America is a room. It could be the one we are all sitting in here today. It has a floor, and four walls. Right now, this room is empty and vulnerable, but it does not have to be. The economy is our basis, the floor and the four walls. We must strengthen these supports, build them to be as stable and durable as they can be before we can ever put anything or anyone into this room. We must develop this room before we can even think about furnishing it or decorating it. Our nation can only flourish if we establish a strong economy first. My plan is to create this defining structure, and then focus on the finer social reforms and specific policies. I may seem like just one person, but although I am small, I am striving for big things for this nation; though young, my wisdom is timeless.

My main goal in tax reform is to cut taxes. Cutting taxes both individual and corporate creates more jobs; there will be more money to grow businesses, creating opportunities for more jobs. By cutting individual taxes there will be not only more money for necessities, but more leisure money. It is imperative to continue putting money into the economy to help it function better. Our economy is a delicate system that is centralized around supply and demand, and how businesses quell it. In the 2017 fiscal year, families that make $131,200 to $212,500 in income are taxed 28%, plus 28% of the excess income over $131,200 (Pomerleau). I am giving you this statistic in particular because this is the income range of the average family in Bethesda, Maryland (“Top”). These income tax rates are relevant to everyone in this room, and I want you all to understand the benefits of cutting these rates, and how they will affect you. Many question the logistics of this strategy: how is the economy going to improve under such tax cuts? If everyone has more income that is not being taken by the federal government, they will be able to purchase in the market more, and continue the cycle of consumerism. Our economy will strengthen under this new policy. Another doubt from critics is the question of how we will be able to continue funding for government programs. However, this is not in fact an issue because as the economy is stimulated, more people will be receiving income as more are being hired and businesses can pay their workers more, and as a result the government will actually receive more money even though taxes are cut. This reform will systematically improve our economy and in turn our way of life.

Obamacare needs to be changed. There have been too many cases where the program failed to do the things it promised many families. Not only this, but it has raised premiums for families who cannot afford the increase. On top of that, many families have been denied access to their primary doctors because of monetary issues. Companies and small businesses have stopped hiring the needed amount of employees because of the high cost of health insurance. If you look at the word “health” it is very broad. It includes mental, physical, and emotional wellbeing, and the outlets to pursue such mediums. What would the economy be without a healthy workforce to support it? Obamacare takes advantage of a weakened economy, and ends up negatively impacting it. I plan to reform Obamacare so that it is no longer mandatory. Everyone will continue to be insured during these reforms, but the premiums will go down because of opening the doors to increased competition. Insurance companies are then encouraged to lower their prices to make their policies more affordable to their customers, thereby increasing their customers. The average price of a family policy has risen by $2,200 during the Obama administration. The president promised premiums would be $2,500 lower by this year (Galen). Hospitals, doctors, businesses, and consumers all expect their taxes and health costs to rise under ObamaCare, but they end up disappointed.

My platform proposes a balance of foreign policy objectives, because we cannot help other countries if our country is not functioning smoothly. We need to make sure America is internally proficient to enable external activism. Our military should be strong, a force that is powerful and does not back down, something for which we are already well reputed. By encouraging a strong military we are then able to assert ourselves into a powerful position. We need to establish a hard line with the Middle East. The sanctions on Iran will be reinforced. We will continue to back Israel and continue to establish an unbreakable bond with their government. We will defeat ISIS, but it is going to take more than what we are currently doing. The safety of our nation is at the top of my concerns. I plan to support those who are fighting ISIS on the front lines, and aid the people and governments of those who are most in need.

Having education vouchers it will allow students in educationally poor areas to go to private schools without having to pay. The voucher system allows public money to pay for private school tuition for various groups of kids, including those of low income families, those with disabilities, or those at schools in less than ideal conditions. Setting up requirements and minima for private school distribution of vouchers, it is ensured that only those who can truly not afford private school can go. Not only will this allow students a better education, it will also allow local school systems to reassess their academic success. If schools are losing money and students due to the voucher system it will call for education reform in that specific area. This program is already implemented in 17 states including D.C., and research from the National Conference of State Legislatures indicates that voucher students perform just as well if not better than public school students, and voucher students are more likely to graduate from some form of higher education (“School”).

With the present leadership, the EPA has the right to enact and enforce environmental regulations on businesses and individuals alike concerning water and air quality, emissions and more. The environment is important to me, as this is the only planet we have to live on, however businesses should not be restricted by such regulations. They should have the choice of whether or not to comply with policy that can reduce their business and endanger their success. I propose we replace regulations with incentives, namely compensation. Businesses will have the option of aiding the health of the environment, and if they do, will be compensated for such. Without such strict regulations businesses can thrive and grow, creating more job opening for Americans in need of work throughout the country. By creating these jobs we are helping these workers provide for their families and meet all the needs that come along with having a family. Having strong, booming businesses will grow and expand the economy in ways that will help all, not just the workers. A strong and prosperous economy impacts each and every life in the United States and every decision that our government makes. With a stronger economy, we will be able to combat environmental issues smarter, and with a more stable foundation under our feet.

I would like to speak a bit about the news and the media in this election season. The masses just learned of an alleged scandal pertaining to a fellow candidate of mine Ms. Su Han, recently released by the Galaxy News Network.. As you all have heard, she supposedly was involved in a mob incident of a particular endorsement of hers, an NIH doctor. No one can deny a correlation between a situation between Dr. Adam Stanton, who shoots the politician Willie Stark and is in turn shot and killed by Sugar-Boy (Warren) in he classic novel All the King’s Men by Robert Penn Warren and this newly discovered scandal. The novel exposes the complexities and the subtleties of the American political system as well as its tendency to alter the personalities and morals of those involved. Such effects are ever present in the system we see today. Both tell the consequences of outsiders entering the extremely competitive nature of the American political system, and the consequences that accompany it. This novel especially comes to highlight the alteration or even abandonment of morals caused by the political system in some people. As an experienced and educated politician, I am well versed in the effects of the system and how to combat them. I know how to stay true to myself, and to the people, and work for them. I am not a Richard Nixon politician, infected with corruption. Maintaining a sense of self is important to me in this election and that encompasses a set of commitments: I put the concerns and well being of the people first and foremost, and I am here to perform a civil service. I want to represent those out there calling for change, and I know I am the one who can bring this nation back into the golden age. I will fight for the country, the people, the businesses, the economy, the weak, the strong. I will fight for you. Thank you.
